Review: Tresemmé Botanix Hair Collection

When it comes to drugstore haircare products, there are very few brands that I truly trust, as many of them are loaded with chemicals that does more harm than good to your hair. Tresemmé has always been one of my favourite hair brands, offering professional hair products at affordable prices and containing less detrimental ingredients. I was invited to an event by Tresemmé over a month ago and I was kindly gifted the Botanix range to try and today's review will be all about my experience with the shampoo and conditioner from this line.

About the range:
The Botanix range was formulated from botanical ingredients and a rich blend of coconut milk, aloe vera and coconut oil. The professional line is supposed to gently cleanse the hair while leaving it nourished and replenished. The products are supposed to have a professional-quality formula and they do not contain parabens, dyes or silicones.

The products come in large bottles, almost like salon size hair products and the design of the packaging is quite simple. The shampoo comes in a dark green bottle while the conditioner comes in a white bottle - I believe this was done on purpose to avoid mixing up between products when you're in the shower. The bottles are definitely not travel friendly due to the huge size, but you can always empty them in smaller containers when travelling. However, I do like the lid that clicks open as it makes the products less messy and dispenses just the right amount of product.

The first thing I like to do before washing my hair is giving it a nice brush to make sure there are no knots or tangles. The first thing I noticed with this shampoo is the fruity scent, it smelled extremely delicious and flattering to my nose. The shampoo itself is transparent in colour, it lathers quite well when mixed with water and you only need a small amount to cover your entire hair from scalp to ends. The shampoo instantly cleanses the hair/scalp and leaves it feeling smooth and nourished. Also, it was extremely easy to rinse off and did not leave behind any residue - considering it contains coconut oil. The condition was equally good, as it instantly smoothed and nourished the middle part of my hair and the ends without weighing the hair down. However, I like to measure the greatness of hair products by how fast my hair will get styled after washing, as my hair has become frizzy and hard to manage over the past few years. So, to be honest it took me longer than usual to straighten my hair after using this shampoo and conditioner - but these two products would work great if you have less frizzy hair that doesn't require much styling.

Overall opinion:
The Botanix range from Tresemmé is a great option if you're on the hunt for affordable, professional and slightly natural hair products. The shampoo and conditioner will work great if you have normal hair that does not frizz much or doesn't need much styling - but I'm curious to try other ranges by Tresemmé and perhaps pair it with styling products from the same brand. So, I will keep you posted if I do try anything else from this brand.
