Review: Grown Alchemist Haircare Range

If you have been following my blog recently, you will know I have been testing several hair products in a mission to find the perfect match for my hair type and concerns. One of the exciting hair launches this year (at least for me) was by the famous Aussie brand Grown Alchemist, the new range was developed after years of research to develop a professional line that goes beyond the common functions of regular hair products i.e:cleansing and conditioning the hair.

Grown Alchemist has been in the market for years and the brand is famous for its natural yet effective formulas. So, when the hair range came out I knew my hair needed to try it! The hair care range includes the following shampoos, which also come with a corresponding conditioner: Detox, Strengthening, Volumising, Colour Protect, Nourishing and Anti-Frizz. The advanced formula of these products was designed to bond hair shaft, maximise the scalp's absorption for nutrients and protect the hair from environmental pollutants. Also, the products are supposed to have repairing and regenerating properties to promote healthier and stronger hair.

I have chosen the Detox range to try as I felt like my scalp and hair were quite tired from excessive styling and the fluctuating weather in Dubai.

Disclaimer: The products were gifted to me during the launch event for the Grown Alchemist hair care range, but all opinions are my own.

Detox Shampoo:
The formula of this shampoo is supposed to detox the hair and scalp of free radicals formed due to air pollutants, UVA/UVB rays and even your diet. Also, it is supposed to cleanse the hair without stripping the scalp - leaving it shiny and detoxed. The shampoo is packed full of antioxidants, Lycopene and Azulenes (All derived from natural ingredients like black pepper, sage, tomatoes and chamomile) to help make your hair more manageable and strong - while maximising its hydration level. The first thing I noticed on this shampoo is the sweet and natural scent, which reminded me of a candy from my childhood! Secondly, my strands were instantly smoothing out as I was working the shampoo in my hair and scalp. The shampoo lathers quite nicely, which means a little bit goes a long way and you don't need to use much even if you have long hair like mine. As you might know, I like to measure the goodness of a shampoo by how my hair looks after drying and styling. This shampoo passed with flying colours as my hair was super manageable and I got it straightened quite quickly. Also, my hair felt fairly hydrated and looked quite healthy and shiny after styling using a flat iron. That being said, the shampoo needs to be followed by the corresponding conditioner for best results.

Detox Conditioner:
Just like the shampoo, this conditioner is packed full of antioxidants derived from natural ingredients such as: Silk Protein, Sea Buckthorn and Amaranth to help naturally soften, protect and repair the hair. The product is thick in texture and it has the same sweet scent that the shampoo has. I applied this conditioner on the middle and end section of my hair and it instantly detangled any knots and deeply nourished my strands. Also, despite the heavy formula of this product - neither did it weigh my hair down nor did it leave any greasy residue, so thumbs up for that! As mentioned before, when using both the shampoo and conditioner together, my hair felt super clean and nourished from scalp to roots.

Overall opinion:
I'm highly impressed by the hair care range from Grown Alchemist as it helped purify my hair/scalp while leaving them looking healthy and feeling nourished. I highly recommend investing in Grown Alchemist hair products as they're made of all natural ingredients and will solve any hair concerns that you might have.

Note: All Grown Alchemist shampoos and conditioners are priced at AED 175 each and you can find them on, Bloomingdales, Harvey Nichols and Chaps & Co.
