Review: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

Okay, things has gotten out of control recently and I've been super busy with life, work and everything else. Can you believe it's been 2 months since my last blog post?! Anyways, today I'm back with a review of a products that I've been wanting to try for ages and it's the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. I'm sure you've heard everyone and their mums raving about this concealer, and many described it as game changer in the beauty industry - so your girl was intrigued!

Unfortunately, this concealer was launched in the UAE quite late and I wasn't convinced to pay almost AED 200 to get it shipped from the US or other countries - but luckily it launched in the region around the end of 2018 and it's now available at Sephora stores. I was invited to a consumer masterclass at Sephora more than a month ago to discover how the concealer is best used and to shade match myself properly - This totally paid off because I ended up grabbing my perfect shade.

So, before I dissect the product to you I wanted to do the usual disclaimer - this product was not sent to me by Tarte, I bought it with my own money and all opinions are my own.

Packaging:
The packaging of this concealer is quite simple, yet the tube feels heavy and expensive. I like the fact that it's transparent so you can see the shade just by looking at the tube, however you still need to swatch the product on your skin to find your match. The famous huge doe-foot applicator makes it faster to distribute the products on the areas you want to cover, but sometimes it grabs excess product and you might have to scrape the applicator in the tube to avoid wasting product.

Experience/Product:
The main thing that most people like about this product, including myself, is the huge shade range. So, whatever undertone or skin colour you have, there is definitely a shade for you. I was shade matched to the colour Light/Medium - which is kind of neutral, not too yellow and not too pink. The consistency feels quite creamy when you apply it on the skin. However due to being extremely pigmented you would need to apply it deliberately, blend and then figure out if you need to apply more. This concealer works on both under the eyes, blemishes,  and it's super easy to blend - but I find that it blends better with a beauty sponge than a brush. Also, if you don't have many things to cover on your face, you can totally use this concealer on it's own and skip foundation. I haven't tried the darker shades from this concealer, but during the masterclass they mentioned that you can use them to bronze up or contour your face because again the formula is easy to blend. Longevity wise, this seems to stay put all day without budging, however you still need to powder it down to avoid creasing.

Overall opinion:
I'm very impressed with the quality of the Shape Tape concealer and totally understand the hype now! I've been using this product almost on daily basis and I barely ever use any foundations. Price wise, I don't think it's too expensive considering that it performs really well on the skin and totally recommend if you're on the hunt for full coverage concealers.

Note: Tarte Shape Tape concealers are available at Sephora stores across UAE and it's priced at AED 115.
