Review: Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer
It's been extremely long since the last time I posted anything on the blog, there has been a lot going on with my life and most of it is related to work. Also, I took a short break and escaped to Barcelona for a while with my parents and that was quite rejuvenating! Anyhow, today I'm back with another review and its for one of the most overhyped makeup products in the market - the Makeup Revolution concealer! Many described this concealer as the dupe to the famous shape tape concealer by Tarte, which I never tried before but I saw many tutorials using the shape tape and I can tell its extremely high coverage. So, when I saw there was a dupe for fraction of the prices - I decided to give it a go!
This is my first ever product from Makeup Revolution and the brand is known for its affordable dupes for higher end products - others might call them complete knock offs because some of their products have the exact same packaging and labels as higher end brands. Regardless of these names, I just wanted the concealer to work as I'm still reluctant to pay almost AED 200 on shape tape, which isn't even available in UAE and you can only find it online.
Let's just get the usual disclaimer out of the way - this blog post is not sponsored, the product has been bought with my own money and all opinions are my own.
Packaging:
The tube looks like most concealers but I like the fact that its made of plastic, which makes it lightweight and handy for travel. The concealer comes with a large doe foot applicator, obviously very similar to the shape tape - but regardless I find it very useful in distributing the product evenly under the eyes and in one swipe. Also, the overall design of the packaging is quite minimal and to the point - so thumbs up to that.
Product/Experience:
The product comes in 25 shades with different undertones, including a white concealer that you can use to lighten darker shades or if you have extremely fair skin. The shade range is absolutely remarkable and inclusive - considering the majority of drugstore brands and sometimes high end ones do not produce this number of shades and undertones. I chose the shade C6 for my skin, which is suitable for light/medium skin tones and has a neutral undertone. The shade was half a shade lighter than my skin tone and I didn't mind that as I need all the brightness in the world for my under eyes. The formula feels quite creamy and lightweight on the skin, not to mention that it blends like a dream. My only take is on the coverage, as I expected the concealer to be full coverage - however I feel like its medium to high and won't cover severe dark circles. That being said, I have been trying to do a little bit of colour correcting before hand as the concealer is actually good. Moreover, the concealer looks equally decent on other areas of the face - as it covers redness and dark spots seamlessly. The concealer seems to stay on all day without creasing, at least on my skin, but I always powder the areas I conceal - so I'm not sure whether this concealer would stay on the same way if it hasn't been set with a powder.
Overall Opinion:
I'm highly impressed by the quality of this concealer, as it has a decent coverage and stays put quite well. I would recommend this product if you're looking for an affordable concealer that will cover your dark circles and spots at the same time. I'm definitely intrigued to try other products by Makeup Revolution and will keep you posted if I do make other purchases in the future.
Note: Makeup Revolution is priced at AED 31 and you can find it on Glamazle.com
